Hello! Jessie Daam here, the children’s ministry leader at CCKV. I’m a mom of two amazing little girls, Emery and Irelyn, and wife to my wonderful husband, Jeff. I’m blessed to spend most of my time with my girls but also work from home as a photographer and doula. As Pastor Roger’s daughter, I’ve been at CCKV since the beginning and have always worked with the kids in some way. I’ve been the children’s ministry leader since 2010 but have been teaching since I was in high school. I really cannot imagine not teaching in in children’s ministry!
I’ve always felt God leading us to teach with a very specific approach. We follow the Answers in Genesis curriculum, which is written to teach kids WHY we believe what we believe, HOW we know the Bible is true and brings every single lesson back to the salvation of Christ. Too many of us grew up learning these Bible “stories” but can’t defend why we believe them to be true or how they point to Christ. We strive to give the kids the tools to defend their faith, the facts back up the stories we read and most importantly how these stories point to salvation in Christ alone. In today’s world, we cannot just tell Bible stories and expect our kids to continue in their faith as they get older. We must equip them!
It’s been a joy to watch this small body of believers grow and evolve over the years. I’ve always had a front row seat to the joys and pains of ministry, which I believe, have better prepared me for ministry of my own. I love serving the families at CCKV and their kids all have a special place in my heart. This body of believers truly loves and supports one another without hesitation. They have supported me through high school, college, marriage, parenthood and everything in between. I can’t imagine the last 17 years without CCKV!
